Amon Odean McDougald, age 80 of Gainesville, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Oaks at Scenic View in Baldwin following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 25, 2016 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Reverend Earl Jarrard and Reverend Thurmond Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Harmony Hall Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 and Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm both days at the funeral home.
Mr. McDougald was born November 20, 1935 in Gainesville, Georgia to Leonard Garnett McDougald and Lottie Sailors Fowler. He had 22 years of honorable service as a Peace Officer having retired from the Hall County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. McDouglad was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Rev. Bill McDougald, Raymond McDougald, Henry “Doc” McDougald and Chris Crawford.
Mr. McDougald is survived by his sister, Laura Frances McDouglad Campbell of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Mary McDougald of Gainesville; children who he loved as if they were his own grandchildren, Dalton, Makala, Branndon and Camdin “Din Din” Crawford; special friends, Elvis Armour and Dana Gaboury.
