Ronald Allen "Ron" Walker

Mr. Ronald Allen "Ron" Walker, 59 of Gainesville died Friday March 4, 2016 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Walker had lived in Gainesville for a number of years.  He was the son of the late Mary Hollis and Warren Allen Walker.  In his education, Ron was a graduate of Woodward Military Academy, now know as Woodward Academy.  His mother was head of the Math Department at Woodward and was a strong influence on Ron's educational Career.  He was a graduate of Duke University with a B.S. in Psychology.

He worked with a psychologist in Atlanta administering psychometric testing for many years. Later, he taught at an independent school in Louisville, Kentucky for several years before opening his own practice as an independent scholar and lecturer.  His career in this capacity took him all around the southeastern United States and he was a very popular lecturer on the topic of education and administration, frequently drawing large crowds.

After moving to Gainesville, he worked as youth director at Grace Episcopal Church and later as an adult Sunday School teacher, longtime leader of the popular "Seekers" class.

He opened the private educational institution, Sage Academy, on the square in downtown Gainesville where he worked until just before his death.

Ron is survived by his godmother, Miss Vivian Conklin of Lakeland, Florida and his two beloved dogs, Malcolm and Jean Paul, along with countless friends and grateful students-both young and old.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church. Ron's cremains will be placed in the Garden of Souls Columbarium at Grace Church along with his mother.
