Margaret (Mausi) Pew

Obituary Date: Sunday, March 20, 2016

Margaret (Mausi) Pew died on March 20, 2016, under the care of Pruitt Hospice at Lanier Village Estates. She was one of the original residents of Lanier Village Estates, having lived there happily for the past nearly 15 years. 

Her memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 22, at 10:30 AM at Lanier Village Estates' Chapel. A reception will follow immediately. 

Maus?i was born in Germany in 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Kurt Schlapper, and her husband, Franklin?Pew.  She is survived by three children and seven grandchildren: her son Curtis Pew and his wife Diane and children Annaliese Pew, Jaime Barnes, and Caroline Davis; daughter Lisa Kane and her children Kristin Fox and Elliott Kane; and daughter Christianne? Kennison and her children Randy Kennison and Josh Kennison. Mausi is survived, too, by five great-grandchildren, three of whom live in Maplewood?, NJ and two in Sydney, Australia.

She led a fascinating life: she traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, played bridge in tournaments from Baden-Baden, Germany to Kenai, Alaska, and taught US history and served as a guidance counselor in a high school in Illinois for many years, sang in the choir at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville, and enjoyed years of membership in Grace Episcopal's Daughters of the King.

She dearly loved her family and many friends, and especially enjoyed the last 15 years of her life at Lanier Village Estates where she found deep satisfaction in her many activities and friendships. She will ?b?e missed!
