Rev. James Edwin McGaha, age 79, of Canton, went home to be with his Lord on March 20, 2016. Rev. McGaha pastored Bethany, New Harmony and Chalcedonia Baptist Churches from 1975 to 2007 and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. James conducted many weddings, revivals and funerals during his long ministry. He was also employed by General Motors and retired after 30 years of service to them. He is preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Savannah McGaha. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to his family.
Rev. James McGaha is survived by his loving wife of 60 1/2 years, Bobbie McGaha of Canton; daughters and son-in-law, Kayne McGaha of Canton, Joy and Jeff Smith of Ball Ground; brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Sarah McGaha of Florida; sister, Betty Sue Turner of Canton; grandchildren, Tiffany ( Rodney ) Bearden, Hannah ( Clay ) Gridley; great grandchildren, Ryan, MacKenzie, Carson and Rylie Bearden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Margie and Jimmy Phillips of Cumming, Sue and Hoyt Yother of Woodstock, Winton and Sarah Cox of Florida, Shirley and Donald Wilkie of Ball Ground, Claudia Orr of Norcross and many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Gaddis, Rev. Bud Sutton, and Rev. Horace Richards officiating. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 4 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
