Jimmy “Cat” Castleberry, 69, of Dawsonville passed away Friday March 18, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born March 3, 1947 to the late Lee and Bertie Castleberry, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Jimmy was a graduate of Dawson County High School and Lanier Tech. He formerly worked as an electrician, plumber, an inspector for Dawson County and prior to its opening was hired as operations manager for the North Georgia Premium Outlet Mall where he worked until retirement. Earlier in life he was active in the Dawson County Jaycees and Kare for Kids. A U. S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era, Cat was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by his sister, Janice Cantrell, and brothers, Charles, Leroy, C. L., and Jerry.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Karen G. Castleberry, Dawsonville; daughter and son in law, Jamey and Clint Bearden, Dawsonville; son, Jeremy Castleberry, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Henry Bearden, Jay Bearden, Charlotte Bearden; sisters, Juanita Dale, Dahlonega, Wilda Pirkle, Dawsonville, Evelyn Millwood, Gainesville, Margaret Eddings, Oklahoma, Judy Watson, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday March 20, 2016 at 3 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Terry Castleberry will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 3 until 8 at the funeral home.
