Christopher John Churchill, Esq., age 30, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Churchill family home in Gainesville, Georgia after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Despite his young age, Christopher achieved great distinction in a variety of ways during his life. He was a trial attorney for the Constitutional Torts division of the United States Department of Justice and represented the United States in complex and novel cases nationwide. Previously, Christopher worked at the Georgia Attorney General's Office and at King & Spalding LLP. He was proud to have served as a judicial law clerk to the federal judge the Hon. William C. O’Kelley in the Northern District of Georgia.
Christopher graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2010, where he was a notes editor of the Georgia Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He was a member of the Georgia State Bar Association. He was a graduate of the University of North Georgia where he was valedictorian of his class and was elected Mr. North Georgia by his peers. He was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, serving the Theta Epsilon chapter as Pro Consul, Magister and Scholarship Chair. He was salutatorian of North Hall High School's class of 2003. Christopher was a member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville. Above all, Christopher will be truly remembered and missed for his generous heart and his warm, loving spirit. The courage and grace with which he lived his life inspired all those around him and will have a lasting impact on everyone who met him. He is survived by his parents, John and Annette Churchill, his twin brother, Garrett Churchill, his sister Brittany Churchill and his sister-in-law, Marissa Churchill.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18th from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Memorial Park Funeral Home. The address is 2030 Memorial Park Drive, Gainesville, Georgia 30504. A memorial service will be held for Christopher on Good Friday, March 25th at 4 PM at the First Baptist Church of Gainesville Main Sanctuary. The address is 751 Green Street NW, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
