Patricia Fincher Pirkle

Mrs. Patricia Fincher Pirkle, 79 of Gainesville passed away March 16, 2016 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Pirkle was the daughter of the late Joseph Lanier and Betty Cox Fincher. She was a former resident of St. Louis, Mo; Dover Del. Midland, MI, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Hendersonville, NC and had lived the last 11 years in Gainesville.

Mrs. Pirkle was a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School in Atlanta, GA and had also attended the Atlanta Division of the University of Georgia. A devout Christian, Mrs. Pirkle had attended the Trinity Lutheran Church, Midland, MI; Grace Lutheran Church, Hendersonville, NC; and was a member of the Gainesville First Methodist Church, where she was very active in the church choir and Emanuel Sunday School class.

Mrs. Pirkle served as a volunteer for 21 years at the hospital in Midland, MI and was a lifetime member of the Hospital Auxiliary at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center where she loved to cuddle the babies in the neonatal intensive care unit. She was active as a member of PEO and was a sister of the BL Chapter in Gainesville. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of the team that organized the annual Easter Egg Hunt for children of Challenged Child and Friends at Lanier Village Estates in Gainesville. In her spare time Mrs. Pirkle collected angels from all over the world and loved to travel, especially to the mountains.

A consummate and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker, Mrs. Pirkle was loved by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Donald S. Pirkle, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Melany and Joseph Raubolt, Ann Arbor, Michigan; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Marlene Pirkle, Coronado, Panama; sister-in-law Joyce Parker, Atlanta, GA;  grandchildren, Daniel and Samuel Antonio Raubolt, both of Ann Arbor, Michigan; Justin Stockmyer, Sydney, Australia; RaeNell Daringer, Portland, Oregon. Three great grandchildren also survive along with cousin and her husband, Dr. Laura Musselwhite and Harry Musselwhite, Los Lunas, New Mexico, cousin and his wife, Morgan Pirkle and Sandra Pirkle, Atlanta, Ga; niece Dr. Beth Parker, Decatur, Georgia and nephews Stephen Parker, Tallahassee, Florida and Jeffery Parker, Spartanburg, South Carolina. 

Mrs. Pirkle is preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Dale Thiel.

A private crypt side service will be held at the Sunrise Chapel Mausoleum at the Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. A memorial service will be announced at a later date at the Gainesville First United Methodist Church where Dr. Terry Walton and Dr. Hugh Cauthen will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church after the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Challenged Child and Friends, 2360 Murphy Blvd, Gainesville, Ga. 30504 in memory of Mrs. Pirkle
