Lorene Pitts Castleberry Bennett

Lorene Pitts Castleberry Bennett passed away Sunday morning, March 13^th, 2016  in Cumming, GA surrounded by her family and loved ones.  Lorene was born on June 9^th, 1940 in Chatsworth, GA to John Pitts and Winnie Lee Dover.  In 1956 she married the love of her life, Bud Castleberry, and the couple settled in Forsyth County to raise their family.  Together, they had five children before Lorene was widowed in August of 1969.  Ever the devoted mother, she went to work in the Forsyth County School system as a cafeteria worker and retired after 35 years.  She often recounted her love of her school family and the happiness she found in her daily interaction with the children of the Forsyth County community.  She was blessed with a green thumb and cultivated beautiful gardens in each place she lived.  Lorene will be remembered as spiritual giant, who encouraged a love of Christ in those she knew.  She will be forever loved by her grandchildren who often still argue about their status as Gran’s favorite.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Rick and Ailene Castleberry, Reta and Tim Garner, Ronda and Ben Benson, Robin and Avery Stone, twelve grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.  Of her six siblings, three remain, Grady, Walter, and Ray Pitts.

Her service will be held Wednesday, March 16^th, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel in Cumming, GA with a viewing on Tuesday, March 15^th, 2016 10:00 am - 2:00 pm and 6:00 - 9:00 pm.  She will be laid to rest at Mars Hill Cemetery in Cumming, GA, next to her husband Bud and her son Randy.  Flowers and condolences can be sent to Ingram Funeral Home.
