Mr. James Arnold “Ernie” Edge, Jr., age 58 of Prather Bridge Road, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
A son of James Arnold “Jim” Edge, Sr. and the late Barbara Hendricks Edge, he was born May 27, 1957 in Toccoa, Georgia where he lived for all of his life. He was first employed with the Ritz Theatre for a few years and later began working as a heavy equipment operator with Tugalo Construction Company for several years. Soon thereafter, he became partners with his father, Jim Edge at Jim Edge Garage Doors and Ernie later started and operated The Rolling Truck Doors division of the business. He worked at the Toccoa Speedway during the evening for a couple of years and owned three race cars, which he drove on occasion; however, his cars were usually driven by Chris Simpson and James Myerholtz. Ernie was reared in a Christian household and loved the Waffle House. Typically, he would rather be there than anywhere else. In addition to his mother, Barbara Edge, he was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Lessie Edge and by a sister, Connie Edge Wilbanks.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, James A. “Jim” Edge, Sr. and Jewell of Westminster, S.C., three sisters, Deborah Edge Reed of Toccoa, Renea DeRossett of Easley, S.C., and Sheryl Snider of Greenville, S.C., brother, Tim Edge of Eastanollee, Ga., step-brother, William Harvey Madrie of Toccoa; aunts and uncles, Ruth Gibby of Toccoa, Patricia Cromer of Starr, S.C., Reuben Hendricks of Anderson, S.C., and Danny Hendricks of Starr, S.C., and also by many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016, 2:00 p.m., at the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with Mrs. Deborah Reed, The Reverend Roger Elrod, and The Reverend Don Scott officiating.

The family has respectfully requested that flowers be omitted and instead memorial contributions be made in memory of Mr. James “Ernie” Edge, Jr., P.O. Box 1791, Toccoa, Ga. 30577. Please include return address. (Checks can be made payable to the Ernie Edge Fund).
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Danny Fowler, Doug Payne, James Simmons, Chris Simpson, Brad Payne, Dillon Sturm, Bob Payne, and Monty Dixon.
