Douglas Bay Edmundson

Obituary Date: Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Douglas Bay Edmundson, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, Feb 24, 2016, as a result of a tragic accident at his home in Flowery Branch, GA.  He was born to the late Robert Bay and Muriel Jones Edmundson on June 3, 1940, in Wayne Co., NC, and came of age in Aiken, SC.  He graduated from Clemson University in 1965 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and a heart that pumped orange.  A chance meeting in Atlanta in 1968 culminated in his lifelong marriage to Jeannine Lynn Chancey of St. Petersburg, FL.  He worked at Allied Chemical Co. and Texapol Corp., traveling the world and becoming an expert in engineering plastics.  Eventually he became an owner of two plastics companies, ATR and Technical Polymers, before retiring in his beloved South.  He was a devoted father, an avid golfer, a lover of the outdoors, and a true Clemson Tiger.

Douglas was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Allen Edmundson.

He is survived by his wife Jeannine Edmundson of Flowery Branch, GA; brother and sister-in-law Donnie and Vicki Edmundson of Aiken, SC; sister-in-law JoAnne Edmundson of Aiken, SC; son and future daughter-in-law Mark Edmundson and Moriah Eberhard of Philadelphia, PA; daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter Kathryn, Corey, and Kirra Kong of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; and nieces and nephews Angie Leidinger, Austin Edmundson, Anne Key, Allen Edmundson, Paul Edmundson, and Lauren Edmundson, and their amazing partners and children.

A viewing and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Feb 27, 2016.  The viewing will be from 3-4:30PM at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home at 1190 McEver Rd., Gainesville, GA 30504 (online condolences may be left at www.hillsidechapelfuneralhome.com).  The Celebration of Life will be from 5-8PM at “The Farmhouse” at 4613 J.M. Turk Rd., Flowery Branch, GA 30542 (www.farmhouse30542.com).  Look for the Clemson flag.  The following day a family graveside memorial service will be held in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
