Roy Lee Whitfield

Mr. Roy Lee Whitfield, age 73 of 2716 Oak Valley Road, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A son of the late Leland and Frances Simmons Whitfield, he was born April 4, 1942 in Oconee County, South Carolina having lived a greater part of his life in Stephens County.  He was retired from Coats and Clark and was a very active member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God.  He worked in the jail ministry for Stephens and Habersham counties. 

Survivors include his wife of the home, Gladys Canup Whitfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Phillip Davidson of Cornelia and Sissy and Mark Mulkey of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Maritza Haynes of Mt. Airy; step-children, Kenneth Kell, Ronnie and Karen Rogers and Gary Rogers all of Toccoa and Faye Rogers Dawty of Buford; 31 grandchildren; number of great-grandchildren; number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 26, 2016, 3 O’clock PM in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Josh Garner officiating.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from 10 AM until 11 AM and 1 PM until 3 PM. Online condolences can be made by visiting the website at www.acree-davisfh.com.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Anthony Mulkey, Zack Mulkey, Matt Maney, Casey Kell, Brandon Rogers, Marcus Rogers, Tony Rogers and Allen Haynes, Jr.

Interment will be in the Toccoa City Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Roy Lee Whitfield.
