Donald Leon Kirby

        Mr. Donald Leon Kirby, age 78 of Gainesville, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Revival Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.  Mr. Kirby will lie in state at the church from 1:30 - 2:00 pm, prior to the service.  Reverend Scott Lance, Reverend Matt Day and Reverend Wayne Knight will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 9 pm at the funeral home.

            Mr. Kirby was born June 2, 1937 in Canton, Georgia to the late Wayney Kirby and Mattie Page Kirby.  He was retired from Bailey Cabinet Shop and was a member of Revival Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.

            Mr. Kirby is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Cooper Kirby of Gainesville, his children, Anita & Jeff Buice of Gainesville, Lynn & Scott Williams of Jefferson, Michael & Stephanie Kirby of Mt. Airy and Tracy Kirby of Gainesville, grandchildren, Casey Buice, McKenzie Kirby, Bailey Kirby, Matthew Kirby, Katelyn Williams and Makayla Williams, sister, Jean Oliver of Cumming, brothers, Junior Kirby and Ricky Kirby, both of Cumming, brothers & sisters-in-law, J. D. & Jean Kirby and G. W. & Runette Kirby, all of Cumming and brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Lamar & Clara Cooper of Gillsville.
