John E. O’Connell, 95, of Cumming passed away on Friday, February 12. Born in RI, he enlisted in the US Army-Air Corps and served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He earned his BS in Chemistry from Providence College and began working for Coca Cola USA in the mid-west region. In 1964, he was transferred by Coca Cola to Atlanta where he worked until retirement in 1986. A lifelong student and teacher, he enjoyed reading and puzzles. His primary focus was taking care of his wife and daughter.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria and his daughter Amy.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 17 from 5-7 pm at McDonald & Son Funeral Home, Cumming, GA. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, February 18 at 10am at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Cumming, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peachtree Christian Hospice, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096.
