Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Hollis Owen Ray, age 92, of Jefferson Georgia, who entered into rest, Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Mr. Ray was born in Jefferson, Georgia, a son of the late Hugh and Allene Bowden Ray, was a member of the Jefferson Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Ray enjoyed a career spanning fifty-five years in the Textile Industry, retiring first from the Jefferson Mills and then the Harmony Grove Mills.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray is preceded by his wife, Jane Silman Ray, a sister, Doris Gooch, brothers; Alva Ray, Bernard Ray and Lester Toney.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Ray Love and her husband Tim of Pendergrass, son, Robert Owen Ray and his wife Deborah of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Brother, Louie Toney of Elberton. Six grandchildren; Josh Welch, Nicole Evans, Heather Ausburn, Kyle Love, Adam Ray and Holly Ray. Several great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 13, 2016 from the Jefferson Presbyterian Church with Pastor Paul Evans officiating with burial to follow in Evans Memory Gardens, Jefferson, Georgia. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Kyle Love, Brian Edwards, Alex Bryan, Nathan Evans, Morgan McDonald, and Ken McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Asbury and Harold Harbin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday, February 12, 2016, 5 – 7 P.M.. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jefferson Presbyterian Church, P.O.
