John Frederick Miller

John Frederick Miller loved his country, his dogs, and—most of all—his wife, Carole. He was a strong man with a penchant for great cooking and grilling. His friends and service buddies were like family. He brought out the strength and passion in everyone around him.

John was born on September 24, 1946 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was raised in Kenosha by his mother, Ingrid Borge Miller and father, Rhodell Joslyn Miller. He later attended the University of Wisconsin and was drafted into the Army on August 4^th, 1969. He was in the 630^th MP Company, RVN and was stationed in Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam. His duties included traffic control, accident investigations, security checks, convoy escorts, courier runs, and the occasional backstage security for performances at the Enlisted Men’s club. 

John and Carole met while working together in Paramount, California. They became best friends and partners. Over the years, they shared their lives in Kenosha, Wisconsin; Marion, Indiana; Pittsburgh and Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Buford, Georgia. They adopted friends as family along the way.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Ingrid, and father, Rhodell, as well as his sister, Sue Miller.  

John is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Carole Courtney Miller (Buford, Georgia); nephew and niece Pete and Doreen Miller (Delaware, Ohio); sister-in-law Lisa Benedict (Braselton, Georgia) and nephew Brian DeGeer (Athens, Georgia); and brother Tom Miller and his wife Berdine (Ohio).

John Frederick Miller was an active member at the Episcopal Church of St. Mary & St. Martha Bethany in Buford, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 12, 2016, at the Episcopal Church of St. Mary & St. Martha of Bethany. Fr. Tim Watts will officiate.
