Dr. John H. East, Jr

Dr. John H. East, Jr., 69, of Dahlonega passed away Monday February 8, 2016 at his residence following a sudden illness.

Born August 10, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late John H. and Evelyn East, Dr. East had lived in Dawson County since 2002 having moved from Atlanta.  He earned in Medical Degree from the Emory School of Medicine and served as Chief Anesthesiologist at the V. A. Medical Center in Decatur for over 20 years.  A U. S. Naval Reserve veteran, John was an avid lover of animals and especially enjoyed goat farming.  Through the years he possessed a passion for boating, photography, hiking, camping and travel to Alaska.  He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Louise East, three infant children, and a brother, Chuck East.

Surviving are his wife, Beth East, Dahlonega; and daughter, Virginia East, Norfolk, VA.

Memorial services will be held Sunday February 14, 2016 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Pastor Ricky Stepp will officiate.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 until 2 at the funeral home.
