Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Odis Tate, age 89 of Pendergrass, Georgia who entered into rest Wednesday, February 3, 2016. Mr. Tate was born in Talmo, Georgia a son of the late Thomas R. and Julie Hulsey Tate, was retired from Johnson & Johnson after twenty years, the Jackson County Board of Education and was also a retired Poultry Farmer. In addition to his parents Mr. Tate is preceded by his wife and mother to his children, Hazel Cook Tate, wife, Gertrell Brown Tate, son, Jeff Tate and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Ollie Pritchett Boyd Tate of Pendergrass, Daughters, Hilda Lavender and her husband Conrad of Jefferson, Brenda Fletcher and her husband Jerry of Pendergrass, Judy Voyles and her husband Elbert of Cornelia. Sons, Jerry Tate, and his wife Gloria of Pendergrass, and Robert Tate of Lawrenceville. Brother, Howard Tate, and his wife Evelyn of Eastman, eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and three great - great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 5, 2016 from the Mountain Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Strickland officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Kyle Beatty, Kip Beatty, Pat Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher, John Newsome and Chancellor Newsome. The visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 PM at Evans Funeral Home.
