Leroy Dowell

          Mr. Leroy Dowell, age 87 of Gainesville, passed away on Monday, February 01, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 04, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Drewery Loggins will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 04, 2016 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

            Mr. Dowell was born on April 28, 1928 in Ensign, Kansas to the late Carl Dowell and Mabel Smith Dowell.  He was a Mechanic with Trimline Sales and was of the Baptist Faith. He is preceded in death by his parents. He served in The United States Army during the Korean War.

            Mr. Dowell is survived by his wife, Mara Mae Dowell of Gainesville, daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and David Emmett of Gainesville and Donna and William Hollingsworth of Gainesville, grandchildren, Leroy Ted Hollingsworth, James Latty and Melissa Trimmer, great-grandson, Jace Emmett  Latty, sister, Ruth Smith and brothers, Kenneth Dowell, Wayne Dowell, Robert Dowell, and Billy Dowell.

            Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA  30504 is in charge of arrangements.
