John Paul Kidd

John Paul Kidd, age 83, passed away peacefully at the Cumming Embracing Hospice House surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 31, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father, John Paul Kidd and his mother Albina Kidd.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Marianne Holloway Kidd, daughter Susan Caldwell, son-in-law Larry Caldwell, son Steve Kidd, daughter-in-law Pam Kidd, grandchildren Jonathan Caldwell, wife Kelly Caldwell, Steven Caldwell, wife Joanna Caldwell, Christopher Caldwell, wife Emily Caldwell, Rachel Kidd, Katelyn Kidd, Rebecca Kidd, Michael Copenhaver and Michelle Copenhaver. Great grandchildren, Leah Caldwell, Tyler Caldwell, John Caldwell, Nova Jane Caldwell.

Mr. Kidd was born in Charlotte NC in 1932 and moved to Atlanta, GA after High School to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology. He met his wife Marianne while attending Georgia Tech. After a two year stint with the Army, Mr. Kidd finished his Bachelors in Industrial Management and begin a career in city planning with a local Atlanta firm. Thereafter Mr. Kidd started his own firm, Kidd and Associates which he later sold in 1979 and began a 14 year career as the Regional Planning Director for Richmond Virginia.

Mr. Kidd retired at 62 and moved to Flatrock, NC where he continued staying active in the local government and continued as a consultant in the engineering field. In 2001 Mr. Kidd and his wife moved back to Georgia to be closer to his family.

John Kidd was a brilliant man, a loving husband, a great fiend, and a great example of a father and a man. We love him so and will always have him in our hearts. Miss you Dad.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 3 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Embracing Hospice House, 8013 Majors Road, Cumming, GA 30041.
