Kate King Martin

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Kate King Martin, age 89, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Sunday, January 31, 2016.  Mrs. Martin was born in Commerce, Georgia a daughter of the late Daniel Ernest and Sally Nicholson King.  Mrs. Martin was a seamstress, a homemaker and along with her late husband operated a successful poultry and cattle farm.  In addition to her parents Mrs. Martin is preceded by her husband of fifty six years, Walter Martin, sisters; Sarah, Trell and LuBelle King, Ella Owensby, Clara Hendrix and Florene Buzell.  Brothers; Allen and Paul King.

Survivors include her daughter Patsy Peeler and her husband James of Roopville, son, Ernest Martin and his wife Jackie of Jefferson and son, Ben Martin of Jefferson.  Grandchildren Heath Martin and his wife Misty, Patrick Peeler and his wife Tina, Dustin Martin and his wife Arin.  Great grandchildren; Maverick and Maddie Grace Martin, Blake, Brooks and Brody Peeler, Jaiden and Josiah Smith. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Minister Tom Plank officiating with burial to follow in the Lebanon Methodist Church Cemetery.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers will be Patrick Peeler, Heath Martin, Dustin Martin, Joe Sikes, Steve Wilson and Jimmy Bray.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home 12 – 2 prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Galilee Christian Church Building Fund, 2191 Galilee Church Road, Jefferson, Georgia  30549.
