Billie R. Singleton

Billie R. Singleton, 84, of Dawsonville passed away Friday January 29, 2016 at North Georgia Assisted Living following a period of declining health.

Born August 30, 1931 in Forsyth County to the late Kenneth and Wilma Singleton, he had lived in Dawson County since 1955.  Billie was employed for 11 years as a Water Treatment Technician for Lockheed after which he worked for the Cobb County Water Authority.  He was the first Water Treatment Technician for the Etowah Water & Sewer Authority.  From 1977 through 1985 he owned and operated Singleton’s Grocery in downtown Dawsonville.  Mr. Singleton was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a member of Etowah Lodge # 222 F&AM and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.  He was also preceded in death by a son, John Singleton; and brothers, Charlie Singleton and Cecil McClure.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Singleton, Dawsonville; son, Scott Singleton, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Monday February 1, 2016 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Dr. Jim Gaines will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
