Laurence Elwood Pope

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Laurence Elwood Pope, age 67, of Winder, Georgia, who passed away on January 27, 2016. Mr. Pope was born in Stroudsburg, PA, a son to the late Elwood Fredrick Pope and the late Christine Clark Pope. Mr. Pope was retired as a Field Service Engineer with the General Electric Corporation. Mr. Pope was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who served during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Ann Deeley Pope of Columbia, MD; daughter, Amy Hodges and her husband David of Winder; son, Michael Pope and his wife Julie of Owings Mills, MD; sister, Linda Frodyma and her husband Stan of East Greenbush, NY, brother, Robin Pope of East Haven, CT; grandchildren, Sullivan Pope, Delaney Pope, Ashley Kinsey, Ryan Howell, Hannah Hodges, Crystal Wickline, Jessie Hodges and Chelsea Hodges.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Benjamin Boone officiating.  The burial will follow in the Evans Memory Gardens and the visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 5 – 8 pm at Evans Funeral Home.
