Melvin Auten

Melvin Lee Auten, age 87 of Murrayville, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016.  Mr. Auten was born on June 25, 1928 in North Carolina to the late Johnny and Verdie Johnson Auten.  He worked for many years manufacturing window shades and was a member of Concord Baptist Church.  Mr. Auten will be remembered for being ready to offer help and a smile to anyone in need.  His love for the lord was evident, as he was ready to share his testimony and not afraid to ask someone if they were ready.
Mr. Auten is preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife, Geraldine Auten; son, David Scott Auten; sisters, Margie, Thelma, Aliene, and Katherine.  He is survived by his son and daughter in law Dale and Julie Auten;  daughter in law, Susan Auten; sisters and brother in law, Ruby and Dump Rushing, and Doris and Joe Martin; grandchildren, Morgan and Josh Smith, Anna Kate Auten, Beth Auten.
The family will receive at Concord Baptist Church in Clermont on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 2 until 3:30.  Memorial services will be held at the church on Sunday at 4 pm with the Rev. Alan Morris officiating.
