Teddy Byron Hagwood

Obituary Date: Wednesday, January 27, 2016

      Mr. Teddy Byron Hagwood, age 66 of Gainesville, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Bethany Baptist Church, 900 Cardinal Drive, Gainesville, GA 30501.  The body will lie in state at the church from 1:30 - 2:00 pm, prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Reverend Lamar Purcell and Reverend Terry Hagwood will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 4 - 6 pm and 7 - 9 pm at the funeral home.

            Mr. Hagwood was born May 29, 1949 in Duluth, Georgia to the late Lonnie Jack Hagwood and Drusa Lucille Smith Hagwood.  He was born again on a Monday night in 1984 around 7:00 pm.  Teddy married the love of his life, Joyce Wilson Hagwood on September 11, 1969.  He served in the U. S. Army, during The Vietnam War and was injured in the line of duty in January of 1970, receiving several medals including The Purple Heart.   Teddy was retired from Hall County Government and was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church.  He served as Deacon, Preacher, Choir Director and Sunday School Teacher for over 32 years.  Teddy loved spending time with his grandchildren, hunting and playing golf.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Leroy Hagwood and Royce Hagwood. 

            Mr. Hagwood is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce Wilson Hagwood of Gainesville, daughter & son-in-law, Shelly & Joshua Morris of Gainesville, son & daughter-in-law, Jeff & Tanya Hagwood of Gainesville, grandchildren, Kaylin Walden, Jack Hagwood, Ashley Hagwood, Shelby Clark and Reid Clark, sister & brother-in-law, Jackie & Dan Phillips of Bethlehem, Georgia, brother & sister-in-law, Terry & Marie Hagwood of Maysville and brother, Wayne Hagwood of Conyers, Georgia.
