Diane Free Reitz (formerly L. Diane Free Waddill) 2/25/1941 - 1-25-2016 passed away at home following an extended illness. Her husband and daughter were at her bedside.
Mrs. Reitz was native to North Georgia, the daughter of the late James Earl Free and Bonnie Harper Free. She attended both the Atlanta City Schools and the Gainesville/Hall County schools, from which she graduated. She attended North Georgia College and graduated from Mercer University in Atlanta in 1984 with a degree in business. She has been a member of the following Baptist churches: - Poplar Springs Baptist Church, First Baptist Church in Gainesville (1960's), and Dunwoody Baptist Church. She became a Lutheran, attending these churches: Saint James Lutheran Church in Norcross, Christ Church in Oakwood, and Living Grace Lutheran Church, Tucker.
Mrs. Reitz worked for the following companies since the 1980's - Metropolitan Life Insurance, Atlas Engineering, Northeast Baptist Church, Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. Lakeshore Heights Nursing Home, in Gainesville, Ga., having taken an accounting position when her own mother was admitted there. She also worked independently as a mortgage broker and owned an antique business.
She is survived by her husband John G. Reitz; daughter Lisa Gaye Waddill Montgomery, son; Montgomery Earl Waddill, granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Waddill, two great-grandsons, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2016 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. David Hardy will officiate. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Habersham County. The family will receive friends at Little& Davenport Funeral Home on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
