Mr. Randall Lee Abernathy age 64 of Gainesville passed away on Tuesday January 26, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday January 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend David Smith and Reverend Bill Wallen will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday January 28, 2016 and Friday January 29, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Abernathy was born on June 23, 1951 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Reverend Jonnie E. Abernathy and Eula Nora Fowler Abernathy. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy and worked for Hall County Government. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and earned a Bronze Star and Air Medal during his time in the Army. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Winford Abernathy, and sister, Lorene Hyde.
Mr. Abernathy is survived by his wife, Nancy Abernathy of Gainesville, daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and Brian Hinchliffe of Gainesville, Leigh and Brad Dyer of Hoschton, son, Casey Abernathy of Gainesville, sister, Sherrell Grindle of Buford, sister, Ramona Norrell of Gainesville, sister, Barbara Gaddis of Flowery Branch, sister and brother-in-law, Laverne and Jackie Poole of Oakwood, sister-in-law, Lena Abernathy of Gainesville, grandchildren, Tanner, Ivy, Noah, and Jake, special Niece, Donna Catledge and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Northeast Georgia Hospice group for their care and compassion during a difficult time.
