Mrs. Willie Mae Pierce Brownlow, age 89 of Anderson, South Carolina, formerly of Gainesville, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Petra Nursing Home, South Carolina following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm in Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Mike Taylor and Reverend Fred Quidly will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brownlow was born July 10, 1926 in Flowery Branch, Georgia to the late George Pierce and Marjorie Duckett Pierce. She served as Director of the Garden City Baptist Church Daycare Center in South Carolina and worked at Memorial Park Presbyterian Church Daycare Center, Gainesville for 16 years. She was the Historian/Genealogist for the Pierce Family and actively volunteered in the Pro Life Movement. She and her husband, Reverend Avery Brownlow served over 50 years ministering at churches in Mississippi, South Carolina and Georgia. She was a member of Selma Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brownlow was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her children, Nancy Lynn & Don Bell of Woodruff, South Carolina and Vicki Raines of Anderson, South Carolina, grandchildren, Billy & April Walters, Dusty Davis, Travis & Pam Davis and Andy Davis, great-grandchildren, Eddie, Jason, Ashton, Morgan, Anna Belle, Tyler and Taylor, sisters, Dee Head of Gainesville and Betty Black of Gainesville, brothers & sisters-in-law, Bill & Dot Pierce of Gainesville and Rueben & Glenda Pierce of Gainesville.
