Ron Shannon, of Cumming, GA, departed this life to be embraced in the arms of God on January 18, 2016 at the age of 75. Ron was a very proud and successful business executive in corporate and entrepreneurial endeavors, as well as a dedicated and loved family man.
He was born September 13, 1940 in Lawrence, Kansas to the late Earl and Berta Mae Shannon. After attending Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO, and serving in the Missouri National Guard, Ron went on to a very successful 30 year career with General Motors as a PR Executive, responsible for three of his most passionate interests – Automotive, Professional Fishing, and NASCAR. He excelled in these areas to the point that he started the company, Outdoor Connection, which managed the Chevy truck pro staff to support the thriving demand.
In retirement, Ron continued to focus on his passions of autos, football, fishing, NASCAR, and current events – but above all were his most-cherished duties as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather of seven children. He is survived by his loving wife, Andrea; his daughter, Tracy (Pete); sons Bill, (deceased, Sabrina and Steve) and Michael (Tami); his grandchildren, Jessica, Wesley, Mitchell, Christen, Wyatt, and Taylor; and great grandchild, Jackson.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30th from 10am until Noon, followed by a service at noon. A reception and lunch will be served immediately after from 1pm-4pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Ron’s honor to Cumberland Presbyterian Church’s Samaritan Fund which supports the needy in local Missouri communities with food, clothing, utility expenses and shelter. (www.marshallcpc.com). (donations are tax deductible)
