David P. Day, 60, of Gainesville, died Saturday, January 16, 2016.
David was born in Atlanta, on August 20, 1955 to Marlin and Doris D. Day. He was a graduate of Lakeside High School, Atlanta, and a 1977 graduate of UGA, earning a B.S. in Agricultural Economics with honors.
David spent the early part of his career working in agriculture and commodities. Later he moved to Jamaica where he headed up a mission camp for approximately 4 years, after which he returned to Atlanta and became an independent financial advisor. In high school and college David was active in Young Life. His interests included running, walking, boating, hiking and he was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan.
David was a member of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) fraternity at UGA, and a member of Free Chapel Church in Gainesville.
David died doing what he loved, leading a group hiking the Appalachian Trial.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Doris DePorter Day and brother, Michael Glenn Day
He is survived by his father, Marlin Day, Atlanta, GA, Brothers; Henry Day, Johns Creek, GA and Mark Day, Atlanta, GA, 4 Nieces and Nephews, Adam, Abigail, Michael and Caroline.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, January 31, at 3:00 p.m., with at Celebration of Life to follow from 4-6 p.m., at the Chattahoochee Country Club, 3000 Club Dr. Gainesville, GA 30506 770-536-4461
