Henry Gerry Gunter

Mr. Henry Gerry Gunter, 70 of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at his home peacefully of natural causes. Born on March 26, 1945, in Lawrenceville GA, he was the son of the late Robert McGee Gunter and Velma Mauldin Gunter. Mr. Gunter retired as a lieutenant after serving twenty five years with Gwinnett County Fire Department. He was a honorably discharged veteran of the US Marine Corp where he earned the rank of Sgt and was an armory instructor . He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church. Mr. Gunter loved fishing, had many beloved pets, was very generous in helping others and enjoyed entertaining friends and family on the lake. Survivors include his wife: Sandra Stephens Gunter of Lavonia; two daughters: Virginia “Ginny” Davis and her husband Mark, Diana Bohler and her husband Ryan; three grandchildren: Brice Taylor Davis, Reece Trevor Davis, Remi Elizabeth Bohler; two brothers: Bobby Gunter, Joe Gunter and his wife Betty; two sisters: Jane Sell and her husband Jimmy and Sybil Patton and her husband Steve. Mr. Gunter was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister: Vickie Gunter. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 22, 2016, at 4:00 pm at the Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel with Mr. Dennis Coley officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Friday prior to the service at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel.
