Mrs. Ruby Cash Burnette Shafer, age 88 of 275 Rhodes Drive, Marietta, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Canton Nursing Home.
A daughter of the late Howard and Vera Martin Cash, and one of 12 children, she was born January 27, 1927 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived most of her life in Marietta, Georgia. She was a graduate of Franklin County High School. She retired from Allstate Insurance Company with 31 years of service, was a member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church and the V.F.W for 30 years. She was a den mother for the cub scouts and boy scouts and an active member of the Little League Baseball Association. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.C. Burnette in 1980 and by her second husband, William Shafer in 2002 and by a son, Tim Burnette.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Johnny Cook of Woodstock, Georgia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Toni Burnette of Gainesville, Georgia and Tony and Laura Burnette of Acworth, Georgia; daughter in-law, Vikki Burnette of Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren, John, Cari and Erin Burnette, Taylor, Jessica and Emily Burnette and Crystal and Benjamin Cook; great-grandchildren, Maddyn Cook and Cash Burnette; two brothers, Charles Cash of Carnesville and Lamar Cash of Macon; three sisters and brother-in-law, Louise Cheek of Toccoa, Laverne Cheek of Martin and Mary and Jack Andrews of Stone Mountain; number of nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the caregivers for all their love and care.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016, 1 O’clock PM in the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Roger Elrod officiating.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11 O’clock AM until the service time.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Ray Jordan, Marty Jordan, Barry Jordan, John Burnette and Benjamin Cook.
Interment will be in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with The Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Ruby Cash Burnette Shafer.
