Junior Cleaborn Day, 78, of Dawsonville passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Sweetwater Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Mark Flowers and Reverend Rodney Pilcher will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Day was born on March 25, 1937 in Cumming to the late William Day and Allene Grant Day. He was a retired from Craven Pottery and a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margie Garner Day; brothers, Hugh Lee Day and Marvin Day; son-in-law, John Manterfield.
Mr. Day is survived by his son, Steven Day of Dawsonville; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Nancy Day of Dawsonville; daughters, Nita Manterfield of Dawsonville and Angela Day also of Dawsonville; grandchildren, David Day, Jacob Herrington, Leslie Manterfield and Mackenzie Day; great grandson, Steven Herrington; sister and brother-in-law, Broncille and Coleman Croy of Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Mildred Day of Dahlonega; brothers, Herbert Day of Gainesville and Cecil Day of Dahlonega.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504 is in charge of arrangements.
