Lillie Mae Fields, 93, of Dahlonega passed away Thursday January 14, 2016 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born October 26, 1922 in Atlanta, GA to the late King and Mamie Wallis, she lived in Lumpkin County since 2004 having moved from Canton. A homemaker at her death, for several years she owned and operated Midway Restaurant in Forsyth County. Lillie Mae enjoyed travel and was very devoted to spending time with her family. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Dawsonville was a former member of DeFoor Baptist Church in Atlanta. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Fields; sons, Loyd Yancey, Earnest Fields; grandson, Mark Yancey; three sisters and four brothers.
Surviving are her children, Donna Roper, Gainesville, Jimmy Fields, Dahlonega, Lisa Franklin, Canton, Sue and Gerald Coker, Bowersville; eleven grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; and a sister, Janie DeVore, Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held Monday January 18, 2016 at 2 o’clock at Lighthouse Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 1 o’clock. Dr. Charles Blackstock and Rev. Frank Whitmire will officiate. Interment will follow in the Long Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery in Pickens County.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 until 8 and Sunday from 2 until 8 at the funeral home.
