Mrs. Elmira Samantha Nichols Wilbanks, age 96 of Skyline Drive, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Stephens County Hospital.
A daughter of the late Jerry and Martha Cathy Nichols, she was born January 31, 1919 in Monroe County, Tennessee having lived in Tennessee for most of her life and in Toccoa since 1939. She was retired from Stephens County Hospital after many years of service and later did volunteer work at the hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the True Seekers Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wilbanks, Sr., a grandson, Rick Wilbanks, a brother, Bobby Nichols and by two sisters, Allene Noblett and Mildred Sexton.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Fred Wilbanks, Jr. of Martin, Georgia and Jerry and Patsy Wilbanks of Toccoa, Georgia; two grandsons, Randy and Roger Wilbanks; number of great-grandchildren; sisters, Pearl Shells of Madisonville, Tennessee, Lydia Cordell of Lowden, Tennessee and Artie Cordell of Columbia, South Carolina.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 16, 2016, 2 O’clock PM in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Art Conway officiating.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from 12 noon until the service time.
The active deacons of the First Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. The inactive deacons of the First Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 475 E. Tugalo Street, Georgia 30577 in memory of Mrs. Elmira Wilbanks.
Interment will be in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with The Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Elmira Nichols Wilbanks.
