Barbara Jo McEntire

Obituary Date: Monday, January 11, 2016

Barbara Jo McEntire, age 74 of Clarkesville, went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 11, 2016.

Born in Hall County on September 23, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Helen Poole Hawkins. Mrs. McEntire was a 1959 graduate of North Habersham High School. She retired from the Habersham Mills Corporation where she was a winder operator and a textile worker for 39 years.  Mrs. McEntire was a member of Line Baptist Church, where she loved her church family and friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and was “Nanny Barbara”, not only to her family but to a host of other folks as well.

In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by her step-father, Ernest “Lit” Hawkins. 

Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Charles Kenneth McEntire, Sr. of Clarkesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Kenneth, Jr. and Kay McEntire, of Demorest, William Curtis “Bill” and  Julia McEntire of Lula; grandchildren and spouses, Kasey and Natasha McEntire, Kolby and Brittany McEntire all of Demorest, Tyler and Hannah McEntire of Alto, and Seth McEntire of Lula; great grandchildren, Blair, Payton, Kamryn, Paisley, and Luke McEntire; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Gary McEntire of Demorest; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Nancy McEntire of Panama City Beach, FL, sisters-in-law, Ruth McEntire of Cornelia, Ruthelene McEntire of Clarkesville, and Ila McEntire of Demorest; along with one aunt, several uncles, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services are 2 pm Friday, January 15, 2016, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Kenneth McEntire, Rev. Billy Poole, Rev. Johnny Thomas and Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating. Interment will follow in the Habersham Cemetery with Rev. Tony Goss officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 & 7-9 pm on Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home.
