Farewell to a wonderful christian lady, Dorothy Dean Porter Skaggs, age 90 of Gainesville, who went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2016 after a brief illness.
Mrs. Skaggs was born on March 11, 1925 in Quality, Kentucky. She served her Lord for more than 50 years as a pastors wife. She was a member of Central Baptist Church where her husband Rev. Truman C. Skaggs served as pastor from 1978 until his retirement in 1993. She is preceded in death by her parents, Guy Porter and Jessie Harper Porter, sons, Thomas Collier Skaggs, Samuel Dean Skaggs, and brother, R.B. Porter.
Survivors include husband, Rev. Truman C. Skaggs, son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Holly Skaggs, Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Schweers Rocheford and Richard Rocheford, Chantilly, VA, daughter, Shelia Schweers Burns, Lewisburg, KY, grandsons, Blake Collier Skaggs, Ross William Burns, Kyle Van-Edward Burns, granddaughters, Smantha Paige Skaggs, Jennifer Ann Vogelvang, a number of great grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Ruby Porter, Quality, KY, sister and brother-in-law, Treva and Alderson Clark Jr., Bowling Green, KY.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 12, 2016 at Ward's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Earl Pirkle will officiate. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday January 11 at the funeral home. Mrs. Skaggs passed away Saturday January 9, 2016.
