Rev. Cecil Thomas

Rev. Cecil Thomas, 76, passed away surrounded by his family at his home on January 7, 2016.

Rev. Thomas was born March 5, 1939 in Hall County where he resided most of his life. He had been a resident of Habersham County for the last 40 years.

Rev. Thomas worked in sales most of his life and worked with hospice and Little & Davenport Funeral Home. He had been an ordained minister since 1987, having pastored Mission Baptist in Macon, GA, Duke’s Creek Baptist Church in Cleveland, GA, Northside Baptist Church in Gainesville, and Belton Baptist Church in Lula, GA.

Rev. Thomas was known to many as a pastor and was a loved by all.

He was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a fun loving great grandfather.  He was a shining example of a Christian man raising his children with what God’s love really looks like.

Rev. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents Rev. Curmit and Lillie Bell Thomas; brother, Hudson Thomas and nephew, Jerry Lee Thomas.

Rev. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Frances Lou Bell Thomas; children, Rickey and Evatt Thomas and Jeff and Vickie Roper; grandchildren,  Eric and Jessie Thomas, Keenan Stover, Braylan Thomas, Aaron and Neahna Lee, Austin Thomas, Jeffrey and Anna Roper, Dylan and Annie Mann; great grandchildren, Destany Stover and Helon and Jefferson Roper.  Also awaiting the arrival of Piper Lou Mann any day. Sister and brothers in law, Ronnie and Mildred Loggins, Ruth and Bascom Echols; sister in law, Louise Thomas; 3 nephews, Larry Thomas, Gary Thomas and the late Jerry Lee Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Belton Baptist Church in Lula, GA. Rev. Shannon Wingo, Rev. David Skinner will officiate. Interment will be in Belton Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
