Larry Joe Pethel, Sr.

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Larry Joe Pethel, Sr. age 74, of Pendergrass, Georgia who entered into rest Thursday, January 7, 2016.  Mr. Pethel was born in Talmo, Georgia a son of the late Zeke and Maggie Tate Pethel, was a member of Pendergrass Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver with Mitchell Hardware Company.  In addition to his parents, Larry Joe is preceded by his son, Larry Joe Pethel, Jr. and his wife of 56 years, Mary Sue Love Pethel.

Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Sue Hawkins of Panama City Beach, Florida, Sisters; Demaris Bruce of Pendergrass, Gain Standridge of Jefferson, and Pam Wilburn of Jefferson.  Brothers; Roger Pethel of Athens, Sammy Pethel of Talmo, Eddie Lavern Pethel of Jefferson and Charles Pethel of Jefferson.  Three grandchildren; Rose Pethel Odom, Katie Sasser, Joseph Hawkins, and four great grandchildren; Addie Kate Odom, Caroline Odom, Kaylee Rose Sasser and Braxton Sasser.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 10, 2016 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Eric Shelton and Reverend Robert Whitehead officiating with burial to follow in the Pendergrass Baptist Church Cemetery.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Kasey Odom, Josephy Hawkins, Brad Sasser, Jerry Love, Tim Love and Shannon Love.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 10, 2016, prior to the service.
