James “Don” Cole, 78, of Gainesville passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 following an extended illness.
A lifetime resident of Hall County, Don was born on January 25, 1937. He was the son of the late Frank E. and Caddie Elizabeth Harper Cole. Don was in the National Guard for 30 years, he was a retired fireman for Hall County Fire Department with over 20 years of service, and owned his own flooring business, Cole Flooring. Don was a member of Harmony Hall Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, a Trustee and held other positions.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Cole and sister, Brenda Gail.
Mr. Cole is survived by his son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Johnna Cole of Gainesville; daughter and son in law, Joanna and Matthew Rouse of Braselton; grandchildren, Keenan (Erica) Cole, Dustin (Amanda) Cole, Andy (Melissa) Rouse; brothers and sisters in law, Roy (Jeanette) Cole of Hiawassee, Dan (Liz) Cole of Gainesville; sister, Charlotte Louis of Gainesville; brother and sister in law, Robert (Joyce) Cole of Gainesville; sister, Martha Cole of Gainesville and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Junior Jones, Rev. Mike Purdy and Rev. Tim Strickland will officiate. Interment will be in Harmony Hall Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
