Winston “Red” Roland

Winston “Red” Roland, 74, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday December 26, 2015 at his residence following a period of declining health.

Born October 21, 1941 to the late Ernest and Myrtle Roland, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.  Mr. Roland worked as a truck driver in the poultry industry until his retirement.  He was a very devoted father and grandfather.  Winston was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by his wife, Mabelene Arnold Roland; and brothers, Jerry Roland and Leon Roland.

Surviving are his children, Cheryl Sullivan, Chris and Heather Roland, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Kyle Roland, Kayleigh Roland, Isabella Hardie; sisters and brother in law, Marcelle and Gene Hamby, Cumming, Annie Satterfield, Cumming; brother and sister in law, Don and Linda Roland, Chattanooga, TN; and a number of other relatives.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday January 4, 2016 at 11 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Sam Ricketts and Rev. Glenn Byrd will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Monday January 4 beginning at 10 a.m.
