Mr. Larry Maxwell King, age 72, of Dahlonega passed to his heavenly home on December 17, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born April 1, 1943 to parents Henry Carlton "Shorty" King and Connie Grizzle King. He was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He attended UNG and graduated from Gainesville College. Larry proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam war and was stationed in Germany. He was serving as the Director of the Housing Authority of the City of Dahlonega and was currently serving as Commander of American Legion Heyward Fields Post 239 in Dahlonega. He was a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sister, Carlene King Kimmel; sisters-in-law, Lanell "Sam" King and Rowanda Rouse Pruitt.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dianne Rouse King; daughter and son-in-law, Courtney Deanne and Chris Tsambis of Atlanta and son, Brett Maxwell King of Dahlonega; brother, Henry Carlton "Tony" King of Dahlonega; brother-in-law, Guy Rouse of Dawsonville; sister-in-law, Louise Peterson, Tennessee; Charlotte Phillips, Dahlonega; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marie and L. J. Justus and Lana and Ron McDonald, all of Dahlonega. A number of nieces and nephews who were very special to Larry and other relatives also survive.
Services will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Dahlonega Funeral Home. Dr. Bill Hutcheson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Dahlonega Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dahlonega Baptist Church
