Lelia Louise Thompson Stowers, age 67, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens following a sudden illness. She was born to parents, Wesley and Susie Brookshire Thompson on November 24, 1948 in Dahlonega and had lived all her life there. She was of the Baptist faith and had most recently attended Dahlonega United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Tabitha Circle. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Blue Mountain Chapter #333.
In addition to her parents, Lelia was preceeded in death by sisters; Yvonne Patton, Marion Hogwood, Billie Woodall and Mary Ann “Mim” Phillips, brothers; Ollie Thompson, David Thompson and Charles Thompson. She is survived by her son, Richie Sosebee of Dahlonega and daughter and son-in-law, Vikki and Shadrick Abercrombie of Murrayville, grandchildren; Kinlee, Baily and Kylee Abercrombie and Easton Sosebee, brother; George Thompson and special niece, Jo Phillips, both of Dahlonega. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home with Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends also on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the service time.
