William Scott Hull, age 82 of Snellville formerly of Sautee, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at his residence.
Scott graduated from Spartanburg High School, Spartanburg, SC in 1952, after he attended Jenkins Junior High School, where he met the love of his life, Winnie Anne Cooper. He received his BA degree from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN in 1956. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Spartanburg, while is family lived there. His successful career in the Surety Bond business sent him from Atlanta to Kansas City to St. Louis to Stone Mountain, GA and then to Greenville, SC, where he retired in 2001. His only home from 2001 - 2009 was his motor home. He traveled to 49 of the 50 states, including Alaska, through Canada and the Atlantic Provinces and Mexico, meeting friends at every stop. In 2009 his home was in Sautee Nacoochee, GA in the North Georgia Mountains near Helen, Georgia. There he became an active member of Helen First Baptist Church. He spent his last few months in Snellville, GA...right down the street from his daughter and her husband, which he said he would never do!!! Scott loved and appreciated his God given life, the entire family he helped produce and the friends he made along the way, both as a young man and in his later years. He was a happy man who was loved by many and he will continue to make us laugh and cry at all his so called "Sound Bites"...never to be forgotten.
Mr. Hull was preceded in death by his parents, William Wilson and Anne Graham Hull, brother Dr. D.C. Hull and brother-in-law, Dr. John S. Featherston.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Winnie “Wyn” Hull, Snellville; son and daughter-in-law, Wilson “Willie” Reid and Jane Hull, Charlotte, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Scotti Anne and Bryan McClung; Snellville; daughter, Patrcia “Patti” Lynn Dirksen, Buford; grandvarments, Jayme and James Driscoll; Jill and Patrick Smith; Taylor and Jen McClung; Ashley Dirksen; Jordan Hull; Travis McClung; Jessie Dirksen; Toph Dirksen; great grandvarments, Cam’Ron; Christalina; Corbin; Adonis; Levi; Brinleigh; Savannah; Anderson; sister, Nora Elizabeth Featherston, Spartanburg, SC; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hull, Spartanburg, SC; honorary daughters, Patricia Cooper Colba (Paul) and Mitzi Cooper Gerard (Greg); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Helen First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Holmes will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 3-6 PM Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Barrett Funeral Home.
