Marell Gaddis Bailey, age 83, of Dawsonville, GA passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 at Foothills Retirement Home in Dahlonega, GA.
Marell was born March 10, 1932. She lived most of her life in Lumpkin County. She retired after 37 years of service with the Lumpkin County school system as a lunch room worker. Marell was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
Marell was the daughter of the late Dock Crane and Annie Fricks Crane and was also preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Gaddis; son, Rodney Gaddis; brothers and sisters, Billy Crane, Fannie Bell Stephens, Mardell Greenway, Eugene Crane, and Vera Mae Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Lane Bailey; sons and daughters-in-law, Lamar and Brenda Gaddis, Freddy and Carolyn Gaddis, Scotty and Tammy Gaddis, all of Dawsonville, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dock Crane Jr, Carl Dean and Marjorie Crane, Loy and Linda Crane, all of Dawsonville, GA; sisters, Annette Anderson, Jasper, GA, Monnie Chester, Dawsonville, GA; and Frances Baucom, Hartwell, GA; sisters-in law and brothers-in-law, Mildred Crane, Marvin Davis, Ruby Crane, George Earl Gaddis, and Martha Powers; grandchildren , Justin and Jan Gaddis, Joe and Krystal Gaddis, Chris and Amanda McDonald, Chris and Amy McBrayer, Jordan Gaddis, Emily and Zack Anderson; great-grandchildren, Colbie Gaddis, Will Gaddis, T.J. Gaddis, Cooper McDonald, Carter McDonald, Ava Gaddis, Lincoln Gaddis, Landon Lee, Alivia McBrayer, and Laney Rae Anderson. Numerous cousins and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Marell are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Mill Creek Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 3 PM until 9 PM and again on Wednesday from 10 AM until service time.
