Jewell R. Gowder, age 74, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Monday, December 14, 2015.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Skitts Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Kyle Savage and Reverend Mike Irvin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the funeral home.
Jewell was born June 30, 1941 in Hall County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Otis B. and Mary Ruth Hulsey Gowder. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers following 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Christine (Savage) Gowder.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen (Rail) Gowder of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-laws, Glenn and Lynn Gowder and Lynn and Amanda Gowder all of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Chris Satterfield of Gainesville; grandchildren, Becca Gowder, Jacob Gowder, Saisha and David Woodall, Austin Gowder, Laci Satterfield, Ethan Satterfield and Evan Satterfield.
