John D. (JD) Elrod

A Celebration of Life Service and Luncheon will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the family residence for Mr. John D. “JD” Elrod 70, of Gainesville. Mr. Elrod passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 after a long battle with cancer.
 
His daughter has requested any motorcycle friends that are still riding to honor JD by coming to the Celebration Of his Life on your bikes.
 
Born on April 1, 1945, Mr. Elrod was a lifetime resident of Hall County. He was the son of the late Ezra and Inez Clark Elrod. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during Vietnam serving on the USS Oriskany. Mr. Elrod worked with the City of Gainesville as an electrician, and was owner/operator of JD Cycles.
 
His passion was being a granddaddy and being a best friend to the light of his Life, Lincoln.
 
In addition to his parents, Mr. Elrod is preceded in death by his brothers, Clifford and Earl Martin and brother in law, Carroll Samples.
 
He is survived by his daughter, Lindsey Beth Elrod; grandson, Lincoln Sage Bell; sister and brother in law, Elizabeth Young (Dennis) of Cleveland; brother and sister in law, Charles “Doc” Elrod (Brenda) of Gainesville; sister, Wilella Samples of Gainesville; sister and brother in law, Janice Jones (Ivan) of Germantown, TN; brother and sister in law, Don Elrod (Martha) of Oakwood; brother and sister in law, James Elrod (Bonnie) of Gainesville and a number of nieces and nephews.
