Ernest Elijah Garrett, age 87, of Alto, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at the home of his daughter.
Born on October 3, 1928, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late Aaron Busha and Nora Belle Littleton Garrett. Mr. Garrett was a lifelong resident of Habersham County. An entrepreneur, he worked in agriculture and later started and co-owned Garrett Trucking with his son James. Mr. Garrett was known for his entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic. He attended New Haven Congregational Holiness Church in Gainesville.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Garrett was also preceded in death by his second wife, Glenda Gleaton Garrett and brother-in-law, Troy Moore.
Mr. Garrett is survived by his children and spouses, Charles L. Garrett, Carolyn G. and John Fox, James A. Garrett, Randy D. and Jennifer Garrett, and Ernie S. and Saresa Garrett all of Cornelia, Georgia, and his sister, Agnes Garrett Moore of Young Harris; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two nieces, several cousins and other relatives.
Memorial services are 4 pm Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Alto Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 pm until the service hour on Sunday at the church.
