Funeral services for Billy Ray Ivester, age 74, of Clarkesville will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 2:00 PM from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Holcomb will officiate with interment to follow the service in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ivester passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 following a period of declining health.
Born in Habersham County on June 21, 1941, Mr. Ivester was the son of the late Dee Cee and Mary DeMore Ivester. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Turnerville and he was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Ivester was retired from Scoville Fasteners, Inc. where he was a machine operator. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ivester is preceded in death by his wife Florence Morgan Ivester, and brother Horace C. Ivester.
Survivors include daughter and son in law Sharman and Warren Kirby of Martin, son and daughter in law Thomas “Tom” and Candice Ivester of Liberty, South Carolina, sister and brother in law Annette and George Gibson, as well as five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM.
