Rebecca Ann Brown Perry

Rebecca Ann Brown Perry, age 81 of Demorest, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at her residence.

Born in Otto, North Carolina, on May 20, 1934, she was a daughter of the late George Thompson and Annie Bell Henson Brown. Mrs. Perry was a 1950 graduate of Demorest High School where she was valedictorian. She then attended Berry College before transferring to Piedmont College, where she was homecoming queen and graduated in 1953. Mrs. Perry then taught elementary school for 35 years with Habersham County Schools. She was a member of the Habersham Association of Educators, the Georgia Association of Educators and the National Education Association. She was also a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, the Demorest Woman’s Club and the Tomochichi Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was very proud of her accomplishments with the DAR, where she held many offices and helped many people gain knowledge of their ancestry. Mrs. Perry was also instrumental in establishing the Joseph Habersham Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. She was a dedicated servant of the Lord serving as a member, deacon and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia.

In 1953, Mrs. Perry met the love of her life, James Howard Perry, at Piedmont College and they were married in 1953. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cared for others in need and was a giving person who was awarded for giving blood by the American Red Cross.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Perry; sister, Minnie Lee Brown.

Surviving are daughter, Anne Perry Cash of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Michelle Perry of Cornelia; grandchildren, Courtney Cash, Kyle (Laura) Cash and Amanda (Michael) Weaver; great grandchildren, Landon Weaver, Adelyn Cash and Jensen Goble; sisters-in-law, Martha Black of Ila, Mickie Perry of Villa Rica, Shirley Perry of Braselton and Grace Robinson of Palm Beach City, Florida; brothers-in-law, Robert Perry of Danielsville and Lamar Perry of Braselton.

Funeral services are 3 pm Sunday, December 6, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia with Rev. Blaine Walker and Rev. Jason Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 pm until the service hour on Sunday at the church.
