Russell V. Zimmerman, Jr.

Russell V. Zimmerman Jr., age 80, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Northeast GA Medical Center in Gainesville, GA following a sudden illness.

Russ was born in Newport, Virginia December 7, 1934 and had lived in Dahlonega for the past 21 years.

Russ was a retired land developer and was a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church.

Russ was the son of the late Russell V. Zimmerman Sr. and Beatrice Quarles Zimmerman and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Vanderbleek; and brothers, Bill and Robert Zimmerman.

Russ is survived by his wife, Ruth Zimmerman, Dahlonega, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Mark Merritt, Concord, NC; sons and daughters-in-law, Rusty and Debbie Zimmerman, Apopka, FL, Jimmy and Diane Zimmerman, Lutz, FL;  and a sister, Barbara Green, Kissimmee, FL. Seven grandchildren and a number of other relatives also survive.

A memorial service for Russ is scheduled for 11 AM Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Dahlonega Baptist Church.

Rev. Bill Hutcheson will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Dahlonega Baptist Church on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 10:30 AM until 11 AM.
